CSPS Initial Return to School Plan

Dear CSPS parents and families,

As you are all aware, the Victorian Chief Health Officer has advised that it is safe for Victorian school students and teachers to return to on-site schooling in a two-staged approach:

* Stage 1 – from Tuesday 26th May: All Prep to Year 2 students will return to on-site schooling. Year 3-6 students will continue remote learning from home.

* Stage 2 – from Tuesday 9th June: All Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students will return to on-site schooling.

Monday 25th May will be a pupil-free day: All teachers will be offline on this day to participate in professional development. No learning tasks will be set for students on this day. There will be no on-site supervision of students. TeamKids is available for students requiring out of school hours care.

As the students return to on-site learning, there will no longer be a remote learning program provided as teachers’ time will be focused on providing an on-site program.

In developing the following plans for returning to on-site learning, keeping everyone safe and well has been paramount and we have planned as thoroughly as we can to achieve this outcome.

These are the initial plans that will commence on Tuesday 26th May and we have tried hard to cover a number of foreseeable circumstances and ask for everyone’s support as, understandably, there may still be some unforeseen issues to which we will be highly responsive. We are looking forward to working with our staff, students and community in this transition back to school. Through ongoing reflection, we will be reviewing our practices and making the necessary adjustments.

Drop Off Arrangements 8:45am – 9:10am:

At 8:45am, the gates will be opened on the basketball court (Bundeera Rd) and the back fence (reserve on Marara Rd).

Once gates are open, all students will be able to enter school grounds. To assist with social distancing, suggested arrival times for students with surnames A-K at 8:45-8:55am and students with surnames L-Z at 8:55-9:05am.

Staff will be at all entry points, welcoming and supporting students to enter the school grounds and walk to their classrooms.

Parents using Bundeera Rd entrance are asked to remain in their cars to assist with the flow of traffic and staff will be there to support the students..

Parents are asked not to enter school grounds until further notice.

Before School Care – Students in before school care will be escorted to their classroom by TeamKids staff at 8:45am.

Pick Up Arrangements 3:15pm – 3:30pm:

3:15pm dismissal for Prep and Year 2 students – All Prep and Year 2 students will be dismissed from the grassland on the back fence.

Prep and Year 2 teachers will walk their class to the grassland and line up. Teachers will dismiss students as they sight parents.

If a Prep or Year 2 student has a sibling in Year 1, the Year 1 student will be dismissed at 3:15pm also.

3:30pm dismissal for Year 1 students – All Year 1 students will be dismissed from the basketball court and exit school grounds from the basketball court gates (Bundeera Rd). Year 1 teachers will dismiss students as they sight parents.

After school care – Each day, TeamKids will notify CSPS of students booked into after school care. A staff member will collect these students from their classrooms and walk them to after school care. For Prep and Year 2 students (3:15pm dismissal), a staff member will supervise the students in the hall until TeamKids take over supervision at 3:30pm.

Adjustments to Our School Day:

There are a number of adjustments to the school day that will be in place for the remainder of Term 2. There will be:

-Only staff and students permitted on the school grounds. Visitors must phone the office before entering school buildings or grounds

-No assembly

-No lunch orders

-No drinking from drinking fountains. All students must bring a water bottle to school.      This will be refilled during the school day

-No inter-school sport

-No excursions or camps

-Physical arrangements within the school and classrooms to support hygiene as far as is practicable

Hygiene and Cleaning:

Each classroom/specialist room will have clear visuals on hygiene practices for all students to follow. This includes washing hands before entering class, before/after eating, after coughing or sneezing, using tissues appropriately and coughing into elbows.

Teachers will have regular times throughout each day for hand-washing and students will be required to wash their hands outside of these times, as required.

Soap, hand sanitiser and cleaning products are available in every classroom space and every staffroom across the school as well as hand soap in all bathrooms.

We have worked with our cleaning organisation to implement increased cleaning schedules that follow department guidelines and these practices will continue. There will be regular scheduled cleaning throughout the day which includes disinfecting toilets, door handles and communally-used surfaces, including play equipment. Hand sanitiser and soap will be regularly replenished.

Student Health and Wellbeing:

In order for us to prevent the spread of COVID-19, any unwell students or staff are to remain at home. This will help us to protect our school and wider community

Please do not send your child to school if they present with a runny nose, coughing, sore throat, headache, fever, breathing difficulties.

If a student presents with one of these symptoms at school, they will be monitored by staff in the First Aid room and parents contacted to collect their child. Please ensure your contact details are up to date and contact the office by email, to make any changes.

Return of loaned devices:

If you need to return a device that has been loaned to you by the school, please email the classroom teacher prior to returning the device, to notify of its return.

Devices can be placed in the student’s bag and students can return the device to their classroom teacher.

Please be assured that student health, wellbeing and safety are our highest priorities and underpin all organisational planning and processes, as we return to on-site teaching and learning.

Again we thank everyone in our community for your continued support, understanding, patience and cooperation throughout this challenging and difficult time.

Warm Regards,

Gayle Yardley
