Dear Caulfield South families,

I’d like to thank our community for all your feedback as we try to manage this difficult time of remote and flexible learning as well as possible. I realise the change in the weekly schedule is not ideal for all but I know there are many families and staff who are appreciative of this focus on specialist subjects and wellbeing activities on Wednesdays.

Thank you to Lauren (who is providing our Wellness Wednesday activities), we are thrilled to share with you that Caulfield South will soon have its own Spoonville Community. In fact it has already begun to emerge! If you aren’t familiar with this craze, it started in the English Village of Winnersh during the COVID pandemic and has appeared all over the world and now made its way to Melbourne.

It’s so simple for you to get involved. Make a wooden spoon person, or if you prefer, decorate a rock or stick. Plant it in the garden, which will be along the school fence near the junior playground. A sign has been erected and some Spoonville residents are already appearing, so you will know exactly where to plant your ‘Spoonvillian’. This will be the focus of our Wellness Wednesday activity this week so you may want to get your craft materials out in readiness for tomorrow.

We ask that you please be sure to use minimal plastic items when decorating. All items need to be secured well to avoid littering. We’d love our village to be as sustainable as possible.

We can’t wait to see our little village growing over the next few weeks. Feel free to create more than one person if you’d like and don’t forget to come and see how the village is growing on your daily walks.

Thank you to our Parents’ Association for their support of wellbeing in our community which is so essential at this time.

Take care and stay safe,

Gayle, Bianca and CSPS staff
